care.coach corporation (“care.coach”) and Waystone Health & Human Services (“Waystone HHS”) have established a collaborative agreement to support individuals age 18 and older that are served by the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services.

Through this collaboration, the care.coach Avatar™, a digital 24x7 self-care coach and companion, will be deployed to support individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD) and individuals with autism served by the following Waystone HHS programs: Latino Medical Program, Adult Intensive Flexible Family Supports Program, Turning 22 Intensive Flexible Family Supports Program, Elder Caregiver Intensive Flexible Family Supports Program, and Agency with Choice Program. The use of care.coach technology and services is expected to improve support for individuals living on their own or with their family members, while reducing dependency on in-person staff from Waystone HHS, helping Waystone HHS to better serve more individuals with IDD and autism despite the challenges of growing demand and scarcity of healthcare workers across the United States.

“care.coach is very excited to work with Waystone HHS to continue growing our positive impact on the lives of individuals across the spectrum of age and individual needs. There is enormous potential with the domain expertise of Waystone HHS and the scalability of care.coach to adapt our model to improve the health and wellbeing of millions of people,” commented Victor Wang, CEO of care.coach.

IDD and autism affect well over 7 million Americans, and diagnosis rates are steadily increasing. Nationally, Medicaid Home & Community Based Services (HCBS) for IDD covers 861,000 individuals at a cost of $39 billion/yr. Already deployed across Massachusetts and working alongside state-approved HCBS providers, care.coach  has been engaged with many state-directed Medicaid programs to expand its impact to a national scale. The company expects its technology and services, including care.coach Avatar™, to be deployed across several such state Medicaid programs in 2023.
